About GajagoKorea

My Korean upbringing shapes how I see and experience Korea. I created GajagoKorea to share that perspective and help travelers explore with more confidence and a better understanding of the country’s culture, history, and everyday life.

Alongside practical travel advice, I share the context behind the places, food, words, and traditions you may encounter. My hope is that you’ll come away knowing a little more about what you’re seeing—and enjoy your trip all the more for it.

Why GajagoKorea?

Some of the most useful travel advice comes from small moments: a card that unexpectedly stops working, a restaurant’s afternoon break, or a payment terminal offering a choice of currencies.

GajagoKorea draws on my own trips, the places I’ve enjoyed, and the questions I’ve had to work through. I share those experiences alongside researched information to help you prepare for yours.

I’m interested in both the practical side of traveling and the stories behind what you encounter. Learning why a region is known for a particular food or what a traditional performance means to its community can add another layer to your visit.

What You’ll Find Here

The guides cover getting around, paying for things, choosing useful apps, finding places to stay, and navigating everyday situations.

You’ll also find ideas for exploring Seoul, Busan, and destinations beyond them, with seasonal guides and selected events to help you decide what fits your interests and itinerary.

Korean names and expressions appear throughout the site with explanations where helpful. Recognizing a word on a sign or menu can be useful—and learning what it means can make the experience more memorable.

How I Approach the Guides

Personal experiences are presented as personal experiences. One successful card payment, memorable meal, or convenient bus journey won’t be the same for every traveler.

For details such as entry procedures, transportation instructions, and event dates, I prioritize official sources and link to them so you can check the latest information yourself.

Travel information changes. Before booking or setting out, confirm important details with the relevant operator, venue, or government website.

My goal is to give you useful information while leaving room for your own discoveries. You don’t need to see everything or follow someone else’s itinerary to have a worthwhile trip.
